One year ago (May 20, 2016) Still Point Gallery had the honor of hosting Cherie Lesnick’s first solo show in Cleveland, (Mind, Myth & Music), a stunningly beautiful and psychologically compelling exhibit that resonated with a wide audience and excellent sales. Cherie has agreed to hold another exhibit this year that will continue through the art walk, entitled "Mark Making and the Elusive Spirit). Her new show echoes themes from her first, again emphasizing the power of marks to animate, endow meaning and at times to achieve transcendence. Within these works of watercolor and mixed media, some of them relatively small (e.g. 8" x 8"), her paintings exhibit a remarkable capacity and range, from satire to whimsy, as she engages us in the abiding and earnest questions of mind and body, spirit and matter. A separate event for the art walk features a trunk show for "Uno de 50", a unique collection of handcrafted Spanish jewelry, to the gallery. The origin of the name, Uno de 50 (1of 50) derived from the early production of only fifty pieces per design. These highly limited editions necessarily expanded to supply the European demand, and more recently, that of the U.S. market. 100% of their works are designed and crafted in Spain from silver and alloys. The ancient and labor-intensive "lost wax" (investment casting) process produces highly detailed and consistent pieces of art.
